During his nearly 40-year diplomatic career, Ambassador Lu Ching Long served successively as Chief of the European Division, Director of the European Commission in Geneva, Ambassador to Haiti, Convener of the Parliamentary Liaison Group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director of the News and Culture Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. France is the most special part in his career. He had been working in France for three times, totally 14 years, with time spanning for nearly 40 years.
During his 14-year stay in France, Lu Ching Long promoted the establishment of Taiwan-France relations and was awarded Honorary Citizen by two cities in France. Hugues Rondeau, Mayor of Bissey St. George City, located in Paris Eastern suburbs, even named the road by the city library,"Allee MICHEL CHING-LONG LU", after Ambassador Lu’s name. This was the first French alley named after a Chinese name. On the Naming Ceremony, the national flag of Taiwan was flying in Bissey St. George City. When Lu Ching Long got off his car, with police escort, many Taiwan compatriots gathering at the end of "Allee MICHEL CHING-LONG LU" greeted him and congratulated him on his achievement as Glory of Taiwan.

前駐法大使—呂慶龍 在呂慶龍大使近40年的外交生涯中，曾先後擔任歐洲司科長、駐日內瓦辦事處開館處長、駐海地大使、外交部國會聯絡組召集人、外交部新聞文化司司長等職務，其中與法國的緣分最深，曾三度駐法共14年，時間前後跨越近40年。 呂慶龍三度駐法共14年期間，推動臺法關係受肯定，獲頒兩個法國城市的榮譽公民。巴黎東郊碧西聖喬治市市長洪多（Hugues Rondeau）決定選擇市圖書館所坐落的道路，命名為「呂慶龍巷」（Allee MICHEL CHING-LONG LU），這是法國第一條以華人名字命名的巷道。命名典禮上，碧西聖喬治市懸掛中華民國國旗，呂慶龍的座車有警方開路引導，呂慶龍下車時，聚集在「呂慶龍巷」口的台灣僑胞，紛紛恭喜他是台灣之光。 |
